franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> thank you, jen. meanwhile, in west virginia, the owners of the 27 horses lost in the labor day barn fire continue to mourn. freddy johnson owned two of three barns that burned in charlestown. he says he was out of town when he got the call. it wasn't the property he was concerned about. it was for the horse owners. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. fire officials say whether it ends up being a criminal act or just an accident, they hope knowing how it all happened will bring closure to the owners. >> we're more than 250 days into the year, and baltimore city investigators are already on their 150th homicide. the latest after a glen bernie man was shot and killed in southwest baltimore yesterday afternoon. it happened in the 1400 block at brandish court. police say they found the victim inside a nearby business, where he apparently ran for help. >> it's a wide area. it's one of the thoroughfares from east to west. as you can see, you have homeowners out here, something that's not for this area. >> the victim died in an area hospital. if you hav

ocean city. only about 15 miles per hour. the heaviest rain is centered near virginia beach. sort of a glancing blow last night as it brushed the outer banks. 105 miles per hour sustained winds at the center. the western side is starting to affect ocean city. you can see some rain on the shoreline. it will be a little bit turbulent for the next couple of hours and then things will improve. you can see the weakening. there is no definable eye right now. this one from 140 miles per one 28 category 2 at 105. we have a squeeze play taking place. a cold front will push it further to the northeast. it is moving at 18 miles per hour. behind this front, a huge game changer. we have much cooler conditions headed for us this weekend. we have been above 90 degrees for 55 degrees. we will drop into the 70's this weekend. -- for 55 days. it will pass by ocean city by about 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. it maybe will clip long island and that ultimately nova scotia it and will be out of the scenario for the weekend. there is a small craft advisory with those gusty winds up to 25 knots. after high tide,

clouds moving east of the mountains into baltimore. the front pushes down into virginia. skies clear out on monday and it will be cool and dry going into the early part of next week. 78-83 tomorrow, the normal high is 78. overall, within a couple of degrees of normal. northeast winds on the bay will be like, waves less than a foot. heading westbound, plan on all conditions, maybe some upper 30's tonight and into tomorrow. a very nice afternoon tomorrow, mostly sunny and 75. around the bay, beautiful weekend conditions. and the lower eastern shore, especially along the coast, there might be with current because of the big hurricanes out in the atlantic. -- there might be rip currents kar. l is living inland across mexico -- karl is moving inland across mexico. igor is still a category 3 hurricane. julia is weakening, and hurricane karl is moving inland and should weaken rapidly. for igor, it looks like up sunday afternoon or evening arrival in the bermuda area. it will cut right across that island area and then head off to the northeast and slowly weaken. does not look good for bermud

through, as i mentioned. it's now settled across the central part of virginia, but there's no weather associated with this front. there's a nice area of high pressure coming in behind it, and it will produce a little bit of a breeze, but that's about it. as we head toward the middle of the week, we might see a little area of low pressure develop on wednesday, but for the next few days, it's going to be quiet. we did have the showers, as i mentioned before, but everything has dissipated now, and we expect a dry commute. we can see a little bit of cloud cover, especially in the southern suburb, but that's breaking up. we'll just call it a mix of sun and clouds. i'll show you the seven-day forecast in just a second. let me just give you the last update on igor. it passed over bermuda last night as a category one hurricane. it did produce some damage, but we're not seeing big reports of catastrophic conditions on the island. they got a big storm surge out of it, and now the storm is about 100 miles north of bermuda and pulling away into the open waters of the atlantic. so we can f

coming up out of virginia and southern maryland, will be with us for a while. is heavy as you get down to parts of eastern north carolina. that is one thing will have to watch for tomorrow, the potential for severe storms embedded in this batch of heavy rain. so far the -- only. 02 of rain so far officially. we are still running cool, 65, frederick county in the low 60s, and it gets chilly out in western maryland in the 50's. tropical like air is already starting to feed up into southern maryland. the air is loaded with moisture, so look for some showers in the region in the morning. breezy, 58-65 to start off thursday. nicole did not last very long. it was gone by 5:00 in the afternoon, but the remnants of it down here are still loaded with tropical moisture and this area of low pressure, combined with new ones on this stalled front will bring all the tropical moisture into the mid atlantic. we are in for some heavy rain and may be severe thunderstorms as well. rod brown baltimore and on to the eastern shore tomorrow afternoon, watch for gusty winds. the possibility of periods of

into southeast virginia. a lot of that will be working its way up to the bay. we have had an inch of rain at the airport and the inner harbor. we are at that 1 inch mark now. afternoon temperatures got up to a few degrees above the normal. even with clouds and what weather around, kind of a warm and muggy afternoon for this time of year. the flood watch continues west of the day. we could pick up another inch or two or more of grain. -- rain. you head toward frost burk. -- " -- lower 60's as you head toward frost burk. tornado warnings were issued earlier today on the boundary of some really warm and humid air coming in. colliding with the wet air from the west of us. that warm front triggered severe storms and tornado warnings. nothing i have seen reported as far as damage. the radar was showing strong location in some of those storms. the area of low pressure will head up the west side of the mountains. you can see these guys begin to clear out a little tomorrow afternoon. -- the skies. the rain arrives again into the baltimore area wednesday night and it could be heavy at times. o

carolina, along with the governors of virginia and maryland, all the clothing states of emergency -- all declaring the state of emergency. >> all right, so let's take a look at the situation as it stands now. the first of the rain bands way out ahead of the storm along the north carolina coast. this is the satellite image of the storm right now. earl is not the only storm out there. we have hurricane earl, tropical storm fiona, and tropical storm gaston further east yet. winds at 140 miles per hour. i'm going to put this on emotion and jury what happens. by friday at 1:00 a.m., it will be a category 3 storm, earl, just raising here. by 10:00 i in the morning, the storm will be well off ocean city, and to be hitting the beach areas. bermuda is under threat by saturday morning of being hit by fiona with tropical storm-force winds. all this activity moves well offshore. tropical storm warnings in effect for the delmarva beach area, that is for tonight and tomorrow. we will become more with the weather -- detailed war with the weather. -- detail more with the weather. >> lowell melser

details. what is the latest? >> the gunman has been identified as paul pardus from virginia. he got upset after receiving some medical information about his mother. he pulled out a gun and shot a doctor. that doctor has been identified as dr. david cohen. after the shooting, security called police who responded with a variety of other agencies. they prodded swat teams. pardus was barricaded inside the room with his mother who was confined to a hospital bed. at one point, parts of the hospital were evacuated. police learned something had happened inside the room. they went in to find pardus dead from single gunshot wounds to the head. >> at this point, we're treating this case as a murder suicide. >> as far as dr. cohen is concerned, he suffered a gunshot wound and spent much of the day in surgery. we do not have an update on his condition. we were told his condition is survivable. a lot of people are asking, how could a government get into a hospital with a gun? we will have more answers to that ansquestion coming out. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> you can keep up to date with
